Using an eXoNews Banner on Your Site

You can add one of our banners to your own site. Here's how:

Simply right-click on one of our our popular Official eXoNews Banners below and save it. You'll see an HTML fragment under each banner that you can use if you need the code. Please note that you may have to adjust the appropriate image directory path to point to where you keep the graphic on your server (i.e.: src="images/exonewstruth11.gif").

Or, you could get flashy! This one requires that your users have a current browser with the free Macromedia Flash plug-in (seventy-five percent do) and takes a bit more knowledge on your part than placing that ordinary banner above. You don't need to own Macromedia Flash to install it on your page. We've put the Flash file and the code you need in a .zip (17KB) file that you can download right here. The link to eXoNews is buried in the compiled Flash file. No fuss, no mustard. Please don't ask us for anything more. It's all the same to us if you just use the far less clever ordinary thingie :o)>

Linking to Individual Pages or Stories

Hey! Why not, right? Link an eXoNews page or story to your own site and help spread The Truth, which we all know Is REALLY Out There! We love it, but there are a couple of things you need to know.

Our stat reports show that a few of your visitors get errors trying to find pages that have moved. We reorganized the site again recently and older single page stories now have new locations. If your site has a link to a specific eXoNews page, the address may have changed.

We use frames. To get a page address, go to our search page or click a topic menu to find the story (topic menus are in the site header above). Once you reach the page, right-click the link, choose Open In a New Window, and use the exact address in your browser's address field to create your link.

eXoNews is updated weekly, adding a new headline page with many articles. Use the search page or check the Xtra menu (above) to find a link to a specific weekly eXoNews page. Right-click the link, choose Open In a New Window, and use the exact address in your browser's address field to create your link.

eXoNews grows every week! Test your links to us occasionally just to make sure they work.

Here are the zillion easy steps to get a banner on our eXoNews Vital Linx Page. (Not really, but these things do take a lot of time to explain, don't they?!) Note that if we link to you, we require no reciprocal link to eXoNews on your site, but it would be polite. See the section of this page devoted to Using an eXoNews Banner for free banners and instructions. One hand washes the other, yuh know?

Decide If You Should Be Here

Decide if your site fits into the genres or subject matter you observe at eXoNews. This is a wild bunch, to be sure, but we like to think we are basically providing news outside the daily headlines. eXoNews reserves the right to reject any and all submissions without explanation.

Submissions must come from site owners or webmasters. Sending us a link to your favorite site is not the idea here..

eXoNews will not provide instruction or suggestions about how to create your banner. We have enough to do without explaining art. Ask a friend.

No Porn. No Hate.

We uphold the Constitution of The United States of America and agree that the right to have or not have pornography should left to the sweaty palms of the beholder, but you will notice that there is no x-rated material on the eXoNews site. Recent polls show that our site attracts humans (and others) of all ages, so if your site does porn or ultra-violence don't even try it - we won't display your banner. You can still link to us, of course.

We do welcome political sites, but we will look at them first to make sure you are not providing a how-to page for nuclear weapons, urging the violent overthrow of the US Government, championing racial hatred, ethnic genocide, etc. eXoNews is for positive weirdness, not for someone with an axe to grind.

Two Main Categories

We want links to sites that are concerned with Anything "exo" (outside) - the oddities of life, real science that may lead to big changes in the future, science fiction (the true inspiration for such science), government and people meddling and bungling, etc. In other words, sites that a Chris Carter or Rod Serling or maybe Conan Doyle or Alfred Hitchcock would love. Fan sites for genre TV shows fall into this category (sort of.)

We will also consider any site that we consider to be Most Excellent and Inspirational. If you have such a site, even if it isn't weird, submit it anyway. We'll consider it. (Note the kind of company you'll be keeping on the eXoNews Vital Linx Page, though.) Commercial sites - those only concerned with selling commercial products for profit - will not be linked. Feel free to enquire about paid advertising, but we don't run any at this time.

Size, Shape and Format

Banners must be no more than 15k (15000 bytes) in file size. Anything heavier will be rejected.

The maximum dimensions for banners must not exceed 468 pixels wide by 110 pixels high. Oversize banners will be rejected.

Banners must be in .JPG or .GIF format (animations are cool). Any other formats will be rejected.

How To Submit

Attach your banner to email and along with the URL you want linked to your banner and a valid email address. You must send the banner. We will not link to art stored on your server.

One banner per submitter. Please don't try to fool us by submitting under multiple identities. We're smart (brilliant, even) and we'll just take you off when we smell a rat. Submit a link to your best weird cool site and be done with it, eh?

Submissions accompanied by wrong URLs and or email addresses will be rejected.

We will normally notify you if and when we post your banner or if it has been rejected (and why). If you do not provide us with a valid email address, you will be lost and forgotten in time..

Rejected banners will not be used or returned.

All accepted banners will be posted only on our eXoNews Vital Linx Page. Banners submitted to eXoNews will not be used on any other pages of this site, or on other fLAtDiSk SoftWorks sites.

Linked sites will appear as separate windows when clicked from our eXoNews Vital Linx Page. We will not frame submitted links.
