21 (Reuters) - Amateur divers have discovered a 1,000-year-old Viking ship
at the bottom of a sea inlet in Harnosand in northern Sweden, the
Angermanland daily newspaper reported on Monday.
As well as the 30-metre (100
feet) longboat, two other wrecks were discovered in the inlet, which is
known to have been used by Vikings venturing out into the Baltic Sea.
"We were able to date
the boat from the breadth of the boat's span," marine archaeologist
Seth Jansson told the newspaper. "This inlet is a treasure trove for
us archaeologists," he said. |
