(Reuters) - The Iranian government is to extend insurance cover to camels
in the southwest province of Khuzestan under an innovative plan reported
on Wednesday.
The daily Iran News said the
valuable beasts of burden would be insured against earthquakes, thunder,
snake bites, floods and collisions with cars or other vehicles.
Insurance premiums will be
split between the camels' owners and the government, with greater premiums
and payouts for mature animals. The daily said Khuzestan is home to about
7,000 camels. |
