It premiered on October 9, 1929 at the Broadhurst and ran 273 performances. Kaufman directed. The cast included Norman Foster and Lee Patrick. Jack Oakie starred in a film version in 1931. Paramount remade it as "Blonde Trouble" with an unremarkable cast in 1937. A 1949 Studio One TV adaptation included Jack Lemmon, Eva Marie Saint and Glenda Farrell. A PBS TV adaptation in 1974 featured Jack Cassidy, Susan Sarandon, Estelle Parsons, and Stephen Sondheim as Maxie. It reopened at the Variety Arts Theatre in 1998 and ran for 101 performances. The cast included Geoffrey Nauffts as Fred, Robert Joy as Paul, and Cynthia Nixon as Eileen.
